The system was tested as per BS8458 in a room with forced ventilation. The ambient air having a minimum velocity of 1 m/s measured inside the room at a location at a height of 1 m above the floor, provided by a 500 mm diameter mechanical fan.
Interestingly, the main impact we observed of the draught was creating a turbulent flow on the ceiling as opposed to disturbing the suppression. This delayed activation time and would also neagtively affect a traditional sprinkler because glass bulbs typically activate later than our fast response combination alarm.
